Personal Top 15 Video Game Tracks: Part 1
Music, it is able to provide emotion to any scene in a movie, TV show or even on its own. Music one of the most respected forms of art available, from classic music from Mozart to Beethoven, to some rock and or roll from AC DC or Metallica, all the way to the bird like sounds of Lady Gaga and the drunk camel sounds of Nikki Minaj.
There is music for everyone and everything.
Over the next few days I will be touching on a topic which is a little out of the ordinary for me, I am going to share with everyone my top 15 songs featured in video games. The ones that have stuck with me through the years, the ones that have captured my heart in some emotional moments and those that I find so beautiful to listen too, that they sit atop my most played tracks in my library.
This is no way official, this is all personal preference and would love to hear your thoughts as well on my choices and some of your favourites.
5 tracks every day for the next 3 days to count down to my eventual number 1, hope you enjoy the ride and get some very cool tunes to listen too as well
15. “There’s a Zombie on your lawn” Credits track at the end of Plants vs Zombies
My first track is just outright fun, this one actually makes playing the entire campaign of PvZ worth it. This cheerful, bright and vibrant track is actually so fun to listen to and is so catchy. I was humming this tune days after finishing the game, may not be able to strike emotion but this track is great, also the video clip is pretty awesome once you have finished the campaign.
14.”OST Theme Song” Crysis 2
This song is just epic in my books, it builds up so well and captured the essence of the campaign brilliantly. I still remember hearing this track during the campaign and it was able to pump up the action so well, Crysis 2 is one of my favourite games and its soundtrack actually is a key factor to this.
13. “Shall Never Surrender” Devil May Cry 4
I don’t think track is very popular, hardly hear anyone talking about it. But this track went straight to my music library once I finished DmC4. The electric rock music that the series is known for begins and is pretty cool, the slow fade into the very emotional slow tune to end the song out sounds amazing. The lyrics are actually very beautiful and provide a fitting end to the song, it is almost like the track has been flipped to brilliantly contrast itself and I absolutely love it.
12.”Opening Theme” Pokemon Red/Blue
This song brings back so many great memories of my childhood, it has to appear. This theme resonates with so many children still and so many adults alike, setting off on your first journey within the Pokemon world from Pallet Town is a moment I will always remember and this catchy tune fits so well.
11. “Orchestral Halo Theme” Halo Music
I don’t think you could have a countdown without Halo appearing, this tune is legendary. Even non-gamers know this track, my friends alike who are all PS3/Tendo gamers. The world of Halo fits so well within this moving tune, the orchestras slow build up and the choir slowly entering to create a very atmospheric adventure, all within one theme song.
There we have it my first Part in the series, hope you enjoy and hopefully I can bring back some memories and maybe even open your ears to some amazing tracks. Stay tuned tomorrow for Part 2 as I list 10 through 6.
