New Resident Evil 6 Trailer

Another trailer for Resident Evil 6 has surfaced and although this one has Japanese subtitles, all of the voices are English.

The thing that stands out the most for me is the amount of time spent focusing on the Nemesis-like creature. As you can see briefly in the footage, Wesker’s son gets trapped in something almost like a stretcher with metal bars on the creature’s back while Leon is trying to take the monster down. While I have to wonder what kind of player thought it would be a good idea to try to have Leon kick this behemoth, it still looks like a promising fight. The trailer does explain the story a little bit more, and at the rate we’re going, there won’t be much surprise left by the time the October 2nd release date comes around.

I’m personally a little disappointed with the appearances of all of the characters. While it’s safe to assume that people change over time, I prefer Ada’s appearance in the previous titles when compared to this one, as well as Leon’s. I feel it’s also incredibly safe to say that survival horror within the Resident Evil universe is officially dead. While there was very little doubt about this, and even less after hearing the developer explain that more people buy action games like Call of Duty than horror survival titles, so in the interest of making money, the Resident Evil series should become action games, it’s still a little disappointing to see a franchise veer so far from its roots.

Do you like the action-oriented direction of the Resident Evil franchise? Do you wish they’d go back to horror survival? Are you indifferent on the subject? Sound off below in the comments!
