UPDATE: Australasian fans of Tomb Raider will have their pre-order bonuses and collectors editions announced in the coming weeks.

Tomb Raider originally scheduled to be released late this year, with in May however Daniel Gallagher the studio head of Crystal Dynamics announced that the game was being delayed until March 5 2013. After winning many Best of Show Awards at this years E3 convention many are excited about its ultimate release, showcasing Lara Croft before she was known as the ‘Tomb Raider’ this  portrays the origin story of the female adventurer.

Today Crystal Dynamics has released the final box art for the upcoming release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

I think it captures the essence of Lara being alone very well, with the crashed ship in the background, rain pouring down and her holding her arm in pain, the isolation that Lara faces is strongly apparent.

Are you excited for Lara’s latest journey? I know I am, the game looks extremely well developed, despite the controversies with the game.

  2. I thought the original cover looked pretty cool. This one looks incredible. Matches right in to the survival theme of the game.

  3. I’ll be getting it on Steam but still, it’s a nice cover. It’s nice to see Lara more than a sexual object for the franchise. Not sure about all those “ahh ohh” sounds every like 10 seconds but we’ll see. Lara Croft is an important part of the gaming industry. It was about time to once again step in her shoes.

    • I have a weird story about me and Tomb Raider. I was playing the first game when I was like 5 years old but didn’t understand a damn thing. That was around 1999. After that, in 2007 I saw this game called Tomb Raider Legend at a friend and I fell in love with it. After finishing it and reading about it on the internet, I actually find out that it’s part of the franchise I used to play when I was very little hahaha.
