The Witcher 3 On Playstation 4?

Yes, you read that right! In an interview done by Piotr Gnyp of gadzetomania.pl, Adam Kiciński (official of CD Projekt RED) talks about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 and an unannounced dark fantasy title (more than likely, The Witcher 3). The whole interview isn’t up yet, but we do have a twitter post detailing the following:

- Unannounced dark fantasy title (The Witcher 3, most likely) is in more advanced stages than Cyberpunk 2077.

– Cyberpunk 2077 is the first in a series, both games are larger than The Witcher, both are multiplaform.

– 2013 will be smaller stuff for CD Projekt RED. No “Witcher-caliber” release.

– Witcher for iPhone – too early to say anything, but not impossible.

– No Witcher for PS3 next year, BUT they want The Witcher on Playstation, but not current gen (PS 4 anyone?).

– Both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 will appear on next gen consoles (again, PS 4 and of course XBOX 720; maybe even Wii U?)

So what do you think? I for one am excited about these news, having enjoyed very much The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings, and it’s even better if everyone will get to experience this highly entertaining and gruesome series, doesn’t matter if he/she is a Sony, Microsoft or PC (maybe even Nintendo?) fan. In the end it’s all about the games! For any Witcher business, keep it locked, to AnalogAddiction!

Vlad Pintea highly enjoyed the Witcher’s second adventure, and now that he thinks about it, he should go play his first one as well. Until then, you can contact him via e-mail at vlad94pintea@yahoo.com or vlad94pintea@gmail.com, Skype, My IGN or on Steam, all at the same name: vlad94pintea. Have a good day and remember! Stay calm and keep on gaming! Vlad Pintea out!

    • I don’t think it would be profitable for them to make the first two available for the PS 3 as well (not even to bring the first Witcher on the Xbox 360, this late in the cycle). It would certainly take time for two ports, not to talk about money, and seeing as next year we’ll get the PS 4 and “Xbox 720″, it just wouldn’t make sense. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll get some kind of compilation of the first two on the PS 4 if #3 proves to sell well. It certainly wouldn’t hurt and with all that extra power, they won’t even have to make any cuts (on the graphical side) for the first two games.

  1. Hmm can Wii U handle a next generation Witcher title? I need to play The Enhanced Edition that came to 360, was pretty stoked for it but it just kind of fell to wayside.

    • It’s really great. The characters feel so alive and even if I downright hated Geralt and the first “Witcher” in general (didn’t like the overall dark setting and combat), this sequel is so much more and I don’t know how, but now Geralt is my favorite character from it, mainly because of his very developed sense of irony hahaha! It’s not really open-world but the game is long indeed and recently, CD Projekt RED said that they’ll let players create mods for it, so now the replay value can be unlimited if the fans will get the hang of it and dedicate to the game (and I think they will). Furthermore, you don’t have to play the first game to fully enjoy the 2nd one, mainly because Geralt still has no memories of his past. Now, concerning the Wii U… I don’t really believe it will support the game. I mean, they say the game is right in the middle of development so I don’t think they actually looked at Nintendo and said: “Hmmm… that console is powerful enough in order to not make any compromise at all, and be on par with the PC version”. Who knows… maybe a future port?
