Nintendo Outlines Wii U ‘Deluxe Digital Promotion’
Just what kind of carrot do you dangle in front of an audience that most likely has much less digital shopping experience than any other gaming group?
Simple. You give them free money.
Nintendo has detailed its “Deluxe Digital Promotion,” available only to those who buy the Wii U Deluxe Set (that’s the black one, for those keeping count). For every game purchased through the Wii U eShop, buyers will receive a 10 percent return in points. That’s 599 points for each $59.99 title purchased. Then, for every 500 points acquired, a code for $5 credit in the Wii U or 3DS eShop can be redeemed.
The promotion will begin on the Wii U’s launch day and run through December 31, 2014 while the website to track purchases (you’ll sign in with your Nintendo Network ID and password) won’t be up until this December.
