L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi are targeting their next game “Whore Of The Orient” for a 2015 release.
According to a job listing, Team Bondi is looking for a senior engine programmer for their next title that also according to the listing, is intended to be in “full production” between early 2013 and midway through 2015.
A second listing hiring for a lead animator has the game down as a AAA ““narrative action adventure title set in Shanghai in the 1930’s similar in style to LA Noire & using facial MotionScan technology.” Right now the game is currently sitting in pre-production.
Earlier reports suggest that Whore Of The Orient will be for next gen consoles and will feature “a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on” in Shanghai during the 1930’s. Brendan McNamara has described the game as “one of the greatest untold stories of the 20th Century”.
Team Bondi’s last game L.A. Noire was first announced in 2003 when McNamara left Team Soho and went back to Australia to begin work on L.A. Noire before officially announced it’s name in 2005. It was originally a PlayStation 3 exclusive before that deal broke down and Rockstar ended up getting the project back on track and the game eventually took years to come out so whether or not we’ll actually see it in 2015 is anyone’s guess at this stage.
What is certain that walking into a store and pre-ordering a game that features “whore” as the first word in the title will get you some funny looks.
