Xbox Live Turns 10; Get Wreckateer For Free And Other Discounts

If you own an Xbox 360 and have a Gold membership, Microsoft is offering you the XBLA Kinect title Wreckateer absolutely free until the end of the day on November 16th. While you do need a Kinect to play this game, you don’t need one to download it. If you’re thinking about getting a Kinect soon, or you might get one as a gift this holiday, you might as well take advantage of a free game while you can. Why is Microsoft doing this? Xbox Live turns 10 this week, and they want to celebrate. In the United States, some of the gamers who have been Gold members for the longest will receive special limited edition Xbox 360’s but outside of the country, gamers will have to settle for getting discounts, receiving Wreckateer for free, and possibly earning a free 1-year Gold membership from Major Nelson. If you’d like a chance to win one of the 10 memberships he’s giving away today, you can find the details here. You will require Twitter, and you will have to be following him, but hey, free stuff is free stuff, right?

Now, if you’re interested in getting Wreckateer for free, follow this link and you’ll be able to “purchase” it for free. As for those discounts I mentioned earlier, here’s what you can expect to see in terms of deals:

  • Bastion 1200 MS 600 MS Points
  • Battlefield 1943 1200 MS 600 MS Points
  • Castle Crashers 1200 MS 600 MS Points
  • Fruit Ninja Kinect 800 MS 400 MS Points
  • Full House Poker 800 MS 400 MS Points
  • Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 400 MS 200 MS Points
  • Peggle 800 MS 400 MS Points

If you haven’t played these games, or you’ve been on the fence about them, now is as good a time as any to pick them up.

While living in Canada means Eric isn’t eligible to win a limited edition Xbox 360, he’s quite content with the glossy slim one he has. Instead, he’ll gladly take discounts and a free game.
