Nintendo Direct Reveals Many New Wii U Games including a Wind Waker HD remake.
That’s right this morning’s Nintendo Direct led to the announcement not one game, but a whole bunch of new games announced for the Wii U!
First, a few details were given about the Wii U, which will be getting a new OS, a brand new Wii U Party game, and lastly the release of the Virtual Console (games ranging from NES, SNES, etc.) Now, along with these minor announcements, Nintendo has decided to take the world by storm by, not only announcing, a new Zelda HD, but a complete remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
That’s right, everyone’ favorite Zelda from the Gamecube will be receiving a full-on “remake” not remaster of its game for the Wii U with new graphics and tons of new features, like Mii-verse integration. Nintendo also plans to tune up the original experience, though precisely what changes that might entail is a mystery at this point. The point of this announcement is to hold off, hungry-starved fans, like myself, off waiting for the new Legend of Zelda HD.
“New Zelda” actually has a few details added to its own mystery, as franchise producer Eiji Aonuma talked about the game. He mentioned that, Nintendo is “rethinking the conventions of Zelda.” Ideas like dungeons needing to be completed in order, and Zelda adventures being single-player only, are being set aside as the team focuses on “returning to basics.” The goal of all this, Aonuma said, was to create a reborn Zelda. Last but not least, he said not to expect the graphics like in the demo released two years ago; but a “whole new” type of graphics/animation.
If that wasn’t enough to make you buy a Wii U right now, a new Yoshi title “Yoshi Land Wii U” (working title). From the developers of Nintendo Wii’s Kirby Epic Yarn and the fact that it will be supervised by legendary Nintendo developer Takashi Tezuka (who directed both Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi’s Story) Yoshi looks to star in his first game on a home console since Yoshi’s Story (N64).
Fans of Fire Emblem and/or Shin Megami Tensei should get ready to throw their wallets at stores, because Nintendo has also announced, that’s right, another crossover, but this time for the Wii U! No real details were given out, but from the looks of the trailer, it seems that Marth (Fire Emblem and to many Super Smash Bros series) will be making an appearance!
If you think I was done there, then friend, you underestimate Nintendo. Everyone remembers the big commotion about Project Rainfall and its lead game, Xenoblade Chronciles. Well, Monolithsoft (the developers of the Xenoblade game) and Nintendo have brought us a trailer, which looks a lot like an advanced Xenoblade Chronciles. From it’s three person party, skills at the bottom of attacking, and the fact Kunihiko Tanako, the character designer of Xenogears and Xenosaga is on board, it seems this new “X” game (seen at the end of the trailer) is something to keep your eyes out for. Few new additions to it’s gameplay seem to be Giant Mechs that are available to use on the open world and the fact that there are guns as well as sword now.
Last but not least, Nintendo and Iwata has announced, as many of us expected, a new Super Smash Bros, a new Mario game, and lastly a new Mario Kart Wii U will make their debut at this year’s E3.
Get ready to lose all your money this year from Nintendo alone!
