Death Cannot Be Killed, Darksiders May Live On

Sadly at the THQ assets auction that took place on January 22, Vigil Games and the Darksiders IP were forgotten and left without any interest from bidding parties. With companies like SEGA, Koch Media, Crytek, Take-Two and Ubisoft all acquiring intellectual properties and studios from the sinking ship of THQ, no one stepped forward to claim them as their own. However, it looks like the franchise and some of the employees at Vigil Games have been given a small amount of hope for survival.

After the results of the THQ auction, the games lead designer Haydn Dalton went to Twitter to inform his fans of what seemed to be the companies demise, even releasing some ideas of what Vigil had in store for Darksiders 3.

However what seems to be a miracle for the studio and its creation, JP Kellams, a talent spotter, translator and writer for Platinum Games replied. Kellams responded encouraging Dalton and other Vigil Games employees to contact him if they were interested in a new position.

The miracles of what seems to be Darksiders and Vigil Games resurgence didn’t stop though. After Kellams reached out to Dalton, head of Platinum Games Atsushi Inaba Tweeted (Which was translated by Kotaku) “In THQ studio and IP selling off auction, Darksiders is unsold? [We] wanna buy it…on the cheap…”

This is wonderful news for fans of the series, but most importantly for those effected by the sad occurrences of the THQ auction. Platinum Games is known for such titles as Bayonetta, Vanquish and the upcoming Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. They are crtically loved and have a strong cult following from fans, who knows what interesting combination of Darksiders rich universe and Platinum Games talented studio could create.
