Sony announced on the Playstation Blog the release date for Killzone: Mercenary, which is September 17th for North America and September 18th for the rest of the world. In the post by Producer at Guerilla Games, Poria Torkan announced the release date along with a brand new trailer, shown below, and new images which were released on the Playstation Blog Europe but not the US version.
Torkan went onto provide details of the story which sees players take on the role of Arran Danner, a former UCA-soldier who has no problems about taking on contracts against the ISA as well as the Helghast, in nine single-player missions. Torkan went onto to give some details about the story:
“When a seemingly routine mission to evacuate the Vektan Ambassador and his family in Pyrrhus goes awry, Danner discovers that the outcome of the war could very well depend on the fate of the Ambassador’s young son. With both sides going to increasingly desperate lengths to get hold of the boy, he begins to wonder whether the price of victory is really worth the paycheck.”
These single player missions last about an hour each, with each completed mission unlocking additional replay challenges with special objectives to complete. The game will also have multiplayer with six maps for eight players and three game modes which includes Warzone mode. Torkan also said that money you gain in the single and multiplayer “are deposited into a single bank account, so the money you earn in the campaign missions can also be used to buy gear and weapons for multiplayer matches, and vice versa.”
So what do you think? Will this be the shooter that the Vita has craved since its release? Will it be the game to save the Vita? As ever feel free to comment below.
