God of War: Ascension “From Ashes” Trailer

Sony have put out a new trailer for God of War: Ascension that was shown off for it’s advert for the Superbowl.

The trailer was teased twice by Sony earlier in the week with both trailers featuring a young woman and a small girl in a field who are revealed to be Kratos’ wife Lysandra and his daughter Calliope. Calliope breaks away from the grasp of her mother and begins running through a column of marching soldiers toward a man upon a hilltop.

The man himself is Kratos in his days as a commander of the Spartan army. Kratos stands atop the hill looking down at the army until he bends down to embrace his daughter with a hug. As he holds her close, her skin begins to grey and she then starts crumbling into dust as does everything around Kratos. The ashes then bind themselves to Kratos’ skin as they are, of course the ashes of both Lysandra and Calliope. The less plastic looking live-action Kratos then dons his trademark scowl as he begins to have flashbacks of his wife and child. The trailer then ends with Kratos being surrounded by dozens of soldiers poised to attack.

  1. I just realised just how awesome a God Of War movie could be. Of course, we would need a Kratos that would actually show some emotions like the one in this trailer, but I think it’s very much possible.
