EA and Zynga Settle Copyright Lawsuit

EA and Zyngga have settled the copyright infringement case out of court.

The case itself was filed in August 2012 when EA claimed Zynga had essentially copied EA’s Sim City Social and had put out their own version named The Ville which resembled Sim City Social quite an interesting degree. In September 2012, Zynga filed a countersuit calling out EA’s claim as “baseless”. Details as to what the terms of the settlement are unknown however as it will remain confidential.

It’s been a rough few months for the social gaming specialist Zynga. In the time since the case, the company has seen layoffs and closures of games as well as the departure of a key company member.
