Following many rumors from past months, it seems more apparent that DICE’s next entry in the ‘Battlefield’ franchise will be revealed as early as this month, with a box art, dog-tag, and an interesting statement coming from multiple sources.
The first new rumor comes curtsey of a popular website that’s all about the ‘Battlefield’ series, Battlefieldo. The site’s director states:
“I have personally seen the cover art for Battlefield 4, which I cannot post. But I can say that it resembles that of the original Battlefield 3 cover. A man running, in the rain along with tanks, APC’s, and a small teaser image of a jet just to the right of his body.”
“The buildings in the background also resemble that of the original Battlefield 3 artwork. He appears to be holding a suppressed EBR rifle with a support bipod, along with a 1911 pistol with a tac-light in his other hand. The character’s face has evolved from Battlefield 3, sporting slicked back hair in an American military uniform.”
Following this, a NeoGAF user has uncovered (via a well known ‘Battlefield’ user, 32Bita) something which might actually be part of the game’s box art (see above). All of these might simply be false, but keep in mind that Battlefieldo was also the one who first uncovered the premium service of ‘Battlefield 3′ last year, and regarding the image above, it might very well be real, as we already know that ‘Battlefield 4′ will still be set in modern times, with the general manager of DICE, Karl Magnus Troedsson stating:
“we still want to stay in this genre, the modern day as it is. We feel this is a place we can be and continue with the series. Battlefield 4 can live in this space and be very successful.”
Furthermore, the director of Battlefieldo also stated that those who witness the reveal of the next entry will receive a special dog-tag (see below), and that “something shall happen tomorrow” (that means today, as the tweet was posted yesterday).
It seems that “something” will indeed happen, so stay tuned for more!
