‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ Revealed

A few minutes ago, Hideo Kojima showcased the official trailer for ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’. Yes, it seems that ‘Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes’ and the elusive ‘Phantom Pain’ are actually one and the same game, that being the next entry in the ‘Metal Gear Solid’ franchise.

UPDATE: The official Trailer + Another opinion Revealed!

What is also interesting is the fact that in the beginning, after the doctors confirm Snake’s coma, the guy besides him asks “what about him?” at which point the guy and doctors seem to be turning towards the camera. Who is this third, supposedly wounded person besides Snake and the other man?

Hideo Kojima also confirmed that the demo presented at the conference represents the beginning of the game, after which Snake will get back into action, and players will be allowed to freely roam ‘Metal Gear Solid V’s world.

ORIGINAL STORY BELOW:

It seems like in this entry, Snake has been in a coma for nine years, and the moment he wakes up, the hospital in which he was treated is under attack by an unknown enemy. Snake has lost one arm, and because of his vegetative state, he doesn’t even remember how to walk, as the demo that was presented at GDG shows him crawling along the hospital halls, with the help of another unknown person.

The supernatural elements have also made an appearance, as a strange entity (which looks like an escaped mental patient) simply goes through the ceiling after staring at Snake and his new friend for a few seconds, after which the elevator in front of them blows up, and a man which doesn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that he’s on fire goes towards our protagonist, only to vanish right in front of him. Snake follows the unknown ally in the opposite direction of the elevator, at which point the demo ends.

As soon as we’ve got a hold of the trailer presenting what seems to be a dream of Snake while he was in coma, showcasing a flying, flaming whale which swallows a helicopter, Snake firing from another one after which he goes on riding a horse while killing more enemies, while there’s also a Pegasus-like flaming rider causing more problems, and the demo showing Snake’s rise from the hospital bed, we’ll be sure to update you.

Keep AA on your radar for all things ‘MGS V’! If you somehow missed last year’s demo of ‘Ground Zeroes’, you can watch it right here, and get a sense of how ‘Metal Gear Solid V’ will play.
