David Hayter will not be reprising his role as Naked Snake in the newly announced Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain.
“Well look,” Hayter Tweeted. “At least I had a good run.” In a reply to another Twitter user asking him if he was even asked to voice Naked Snake he simply replied with “nope.”
David Hayter has voiced both Solid Snake and Naked Snake since the first Metal Gear Solid came out on the original PlayStation in 1998 and has been the voice of the characters in every game featuring Snake since then. With the next numbered Metal Gear Solid game featuring Snake as the main character, it comes as peculiar news that Hayter was not even considered for the role. The previous fan points out that this could actually be a method of misdirection to fool fans.
After all, the entire “Joakim Mogren” persona was a ruse adopted by Hideo Kojima who entered the stage as Mogren and unmasked himself revealing what was already quite obvious. Aside from his Tweets, Hayter is remaining silent on the matter.
So is this another game of cat & mouse devised by Kojima or is this really the end of David Hayter as Solid Snake? Let us know what you think below!
