Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame Remake Announced

Prince of Persia - The Shadow and the Flame

The second entry in the classic 2D ‘Price of Persia’ games, ‘Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame’ is getting a brand-new remake with updated graphics, and new gameplay mechanics… for smartphones and tablets.

The official press release states:

“Continue the age old saga of a wanderer who was born a Prince! The wanderer returns, in search of his unknown past on a journey to redefine his future.

Prince of Persia The Shadow and The Flame is a pick up and play, smooth adaptation of an epic classic easy to handle but challenging to master. Play as the Prince who must battle the odds again to save his Princess and kingdom on a journey that will pave the path to his origins.”

We’ll update you on the price point and anything else, but until then, let us know your thoughts about this one in the comments below!

Our take: Am I the only one who’s disappointed because it’s not coming to consoles and PC as well? The original 2D ‘POP’ did make its way, as a remake version, to PSN and XBLA, so why not this one as well?

  1. No you’re not the only one disappointed if this is strictly released for mobile devices. I have finished the original PoP1 on PC as a kid; and bought the PSN remake, but I never have finished the sequel.

    • The Shadow and the Flame is fantastic. It’s so old that it’s free now, so with an emulator like DosBox you could play it. I’ll be seriously pissed if this week’s announcement is another mobile thing though. We NEED a next-gen retail game already. Preferably a sequel to 2008′s PoP.
