SimCity Offline Ahead Of 2.0 Update

Ahead of the much anticipated 2.0 update patch, SimCity goes offline.

The servers will go offline at 6pm GMT two hours ahead of the 8PM slot in which the update is scheduled to roll out in.

The update itself will be expected to address many of the games bugs and just generally improve the SimCity experience which has had a very rocky history since its release in March. With the criticism’s of the games always online DRM functions, EA and Maxis have still decided not to include an offline mode with the 2.0 patch. An offline mode is what the fans have been asking for the most since the games release and its struggle with always being online.

The targeted fixes the patch is aiming for will be issues such as cities failing to process, smarter amounts of tourists on transit as well as fixing the region filters which will mean regions with readily available cities will be at the top of the list.

As seen on the SimCity Blog, the amounts of issues the patch is expected to fix are many in number. Will this be the end of SimCity’s problems or are there more lying in wait further down the road. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

The Mac version of SimCity is due for a release on June 11th with all the bells and whistles of the PC version with more.
