MASKS #7 REVIEW

Masks #7

Written by: Chris Roberson
Art by: Dennis Calero and Alex Ross

Masks #7 continues as the man behind the Justice Party motions to make his final move. What we are given here is suspense that is executed well as the next issue is the final act of this story. Now, most of the heroes are together as they are confronted by the leader and he gives them the big plot, or at least how he plans to achieve his goal. It’s a very smart plan that is pulled off and thought of in a way that is legal. That is something many villains cannot manage to do without getting in trouble with the law.

The best part about this issue is that it has come to the point where it’s not just these heroes fight. Ordinary men and women have also joined in because this is their fight as well and the only choice they have is whether they want to be controlled or have freedom. You really feel the intensity as every person involved here has something worth fighting for, be it freedom, their values, rights, there’s so much at stake and they refuse to lose to someone who says he knows what’s right for them.

The biggest shock, is that the man leading the Justice Party is a hero himself, The Clock. But we’ll see what happened to drive him down this path in the conclusion to come!

Again, between Alex Ross and Dennis Calero, the art remains consistent and their use of both inking and shading adds to that dark feeling that the story tries to portray.
