New Details on ‘Plants vs. Zombies 2′ Sprout

Headline pun aside, Electronic Arts (EA) has released new details regarding the widely popular lane defense series.

Now officially titled Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time (PvZ 2), this is the official sequel to the original title from 2009.

PopCap PvZ 2, “continues the epic struggle of plants defending your brainz against against zombies from your backyard through the vast reaches of time, both past and future,” hence the title “It’s About Time.”

PvZ 2 will launch internationally July 18 for the iOS machines. It will be free-to-play with optional purchases, but PopCap stated “players can face every zombie and access every level in every world at no cost.” As expected of a sequel, there will also be “dozens” of new, new locales around the world – including Egypt, Pirate Seas and the West – and of course, new plants. New touch-screen controls will allow players to interact with both the plants and zombies directly.

Despite the new content, senior producer Allen Murray said, “… we’re still hard at work coming up with even more cool stuff that will keep Plants vs. Zombies 2 fresh and evolving in the months and years following launch.”

EA will announce more details on Monday, June 10th at 1:00 p.m during their press conference at E3 next week.

Oh, and don’t worry, Crazy Dave will make a return to sell upgrades and tools for to players. Why? CAUSE HE’S CRAAAAZY!!
