Square Enix has announced that its upcoming redesigned MMO, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, will not only be coming to the PlayStation 3 and PC, but also to the PlayStation 4, sometime next year.
The publisher is in talks with Sony Computer Entertainment to provide PS3 players a smooth transition from the current gen console to the PS4, meaning that they won’t loose any progress made that far.
“The heart of everything we’re working towards is enabling players and their friends to experience their own rich Final Fantasy adventure,” said Naoki Yoshida, producer and director. “The deeply integrated social capabilities of the PS4 will make it a natural home for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The team and I are thrilled to continue our adventure on the next generation gaming platform, and we hope that you’ll join us!”
The PS3 and PC versions will enter the third phase of beta this Friday, June 14th, and are due for a global release on August 27th. As mentioned before, you can expect the PS4 version in 2014. Additionally, you can watch a new trailer below.
