Wolverine and The X-Men #31
The beginning of the Hellfire Saga, sad to say that it wasn’t all to impressive for a start. In this issue we get the introduction of the Hellfire Academy. Up to now we’ve been seeing them recruit students from Wolverine’s school, plus some that they picked up on their own. Though in doing so you find some of the choices very unappealing. You have some that have reasons for being there and those that just felt like they were thrown in there to fill spots. Where Aaron could have made us believe that the Hellfire Club was serious about their plan to create villains out of these students, was completely lost in characters that look like they don’t belong there. Who knows, maybe that will change, but right now I’m not too sold on the plot at the moment.
The one redeeming quality was over on Wolverine’s side of the story because you see how losing those students has affected them. Of course it did seem sudden for Wolverine to lose hope for the school after only losing 3 students. But either way it’s a little more interesting to see what lengths they will go to in order to find those students and what will possibly happen when they discover the existence of the Hellfire Academy.
The art was a bit disappointing given how well it was for the prequel. Most of it felt consistent, but you notice those small inconsistencies like with Mystique’s appearance and facial expressions.
