Guerilla Details New Killzone Shadow Fall Features

Killzone Shadow Fall developer Guerilla has released new details on the OWL AI feature for its new PlayStation 4 launch title.

Killzone - Shadow Fall #3

The OWL itself is an AI controlled drone which will be following the player around throughout the course of the game. “The OWL is an advanced hovering attack drone used exclusively by the Shadow Marshals to give them all kinds of tactical abilities in the field. It attaches itself onto the Shadow Marshal’s suit until he gives it an order,” explains Lead Designer Eric Boltjes.

As we saw from e3, the OLW has a series of functions it can perform such as emitting a zipline for the character to use to attacking enemies. All of these orders for the drone will be carried out via the touchpad on the DualShock 4 controller.

Boltjes then explains where the inspiration to have the drone in the game came from.

“We wanted to give the player more control over buddies in our game, and we quickly gravitated towards utilizing our futuristic theme to create something very technologically advanced and also extremely useful in the field,” said Boltjes.

Killzone Shadow Fall is a PlayStation 4 launch game meaning players will get to access the game as soon as the PlayStation 4 launches sometime towards the end of this year.
