HARBINGER WARS #4 REVIEW

Harbinger Wars #4

Written by: Joshua Dysart

This was a great conclusion to the Harbinger Wars. If I were being honest, Marvel and DC can take some pointers from Valiant because this is how you get it done. This event wasn’t stretched out and at no point did you feel that it was derailed. Up to the last moments this was an engaging conflict in which Joshua Dysart didn’t pull any punches.

I really felt something from this because they were really fighting for their freedom, and were ready to die for it too. Not to mention it was the youngest ones who died and you can’t help but wonder what they would’ve been capable of if they were just a bit more experienced. But alas, that adds to the emotional trauma of it all because that is the world that they live in and one which they wished to change. It’s not as if this was all done for shock value either. The way this story was written, you believe it based on how anyone is treated if they are different, have powers which could be taken advantage of, or just out of fear. Why I really like how this ended was that it wasn’t pleasant or gloomy. It fell in the middle where you know that after everything that occurred, there just isn’t much to celebrate.

Overall it was very well handled and I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome because I actually was losing hope that they’d make it out of this alive. Dysart really pushing you to the edge of your seat wondering what would go wrong because not much has really gone right for them. Even with the conflict over, you wonder what is in store for them next when this looks to be far from over.
