NINTENDO DIRECT MINI HAD MULTIPLE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Don’t worry. We didn’t hear about this at first either.

A Nintendo Direct Mini announces new update details on the Wii U and 3DS in addition to other announcements.

Today, the widely regarded Earthbound has officially releases on the Wii U’s eShop for $9.99.

Further details on Pikmin 3′s multiplayer aspects were also showcased. With 12 different stages and three variations in each stage, the objective is to, of course, grow as many Pikmin as quickly as possible while snagging prizes along the way. There will also be online leaderboards for Story Mode, Mission Mode, and co-op Mission mode.

As a result of positive responses when Nintendo demoed some of the games from E3 around various Best Buy locations in the U.S., a demo of Pikmin 3 will be available to more than 250 GameStop locations in the U.S. and EB Games in Canada from July 20 to July 21. Those who digitally pre-order Pikmin 3 from any GameStop will also have granted access to the game one day earlier than the initial Aug. 4 release date.

Nintendo has also announced enhanced StreetPass features, which will launch in a few weeks. The new features will allow anyone within any Nintendo Zone and an activated StreetPass to interact with the last person in that location. Nintendo Zone locations include Best Buy, Simon Malls, Future Shops and locales with AT&T Wi-Fi.

Nintendo Direct Mini also covered the new releases this week for the eShop, which we wrote about here.

Lastly, the broadcast reminded fans of a few older announcements. The $30 eShop credit deal, which can be read about here, is still going on through Aug. 31. Animal Crossing fans were also reminded of how they can take screenshots of the game by holding L and R on the 3DS.
