Injustice Gods Among Us #30
Just as things were really getting good, we then get hit by a filler story. It was decent, though after everything that has happened so far, I couldn’t bring myself to really enjoy this issue. It was written nicely, and it was light-hearted which balances out the mood of the overall story so far, but it wasn’t something I could really care for. Good issue, though when things are heating up the way they have been in the main progression, I feel this is just a step back.
The kid I could have appreciated his perspective on the situation, which it was leading up to, but he came off selfish. I have come to agree with everyone’s reasons for the sides they take, but grown up he sounded like he was still stuck with a child mentality. No hero really has that much time to stop and help a little kid who fell off a bike. It’s just not how the world works and sometimes the world will mold the hero, it can’t be helped when it happens. I’ll give it to this issue because even saying this I could come off biased because I side more with Superman, but for someone who doesn’t, his reasons may seem more valid. So once again Tom Taylor is creating that environment in which you still have to take sides.
The one issue I have to point out is that on page 9 of the book, the speech bubbles between the kid and Superman as they were flying was mixed up. It took me a while to figure out if it was just me, but it was definitely the book and it threw me off a bit.
