HUNGER #2 REVIEW

Hunger #2

Written by: Joshua Hale Fialkov

The stakes have now been set for Silver Surfer and Rick Jones. I have to say this is the Galactus story we have been waiting for a long time now. It’s not as if this is Galactus once again trying to go after just Earth. He’s in a new Universe, juiced up to levels unknown, and there’s almost no force out there to challenge him.

Though I know that this book is just an introduction of Galactus into the Ultimate Universe, I like how it gives us something to question about the Ultimate Universe’s future. Knowing that this is only 4 issues and that we’re already on the second allows us to wonder just how his appearance will lead up to Cataclysm. How will he affect the Earth enough that the Avengers take action against him? Will he have any effect on the mutants Civil War? All valid questions that arise from this series.

Rick Jones was the best character to use in this situation because this is all new to him. He has never seen the evils that the Universe holds, he has never seen the evils that people can act against each other, and he has never faced a threat such as Galactus. It’s a story built up like a hero rising to the occasion. Being given a power so great, and a responsibility that comes with it that only he can carry. Sounds like Spider-Man that I’m describing, but that is just the way it is and so far Fialkov has created a story worth following from the Ultimate Universe.
