Microsoft announced a November 2013 release date for the Xbox One but today the company has clarified this isn’t a worldwide release date as some European nations won’t be receiving the console this year.
“While we wish we could launch Xbox One simultaneously in these markets, there are many factors that determine the timing of specific market launches,” Microsoft explains on Xbox.com. “This includes work to localize the Xbox One dash, incorporate additional voice and languages, and build partnerships to bring apps and meaningful local content to each country.“
The specific countries not getting the console this year are Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
Unsurprisingly there is no mention of a Japanese release date but the Xbox has been all but dead in Japan for quite some time now.
For now, the date of the Xbox One in the countries mentioned about remains as a very loose 2014 release window.
