THOR GOD OF THUNDER #11 REVIEW

Thor God of Thunder #11

Written by: Jason Aaron
Art by: Esad Ribic

The finale to Godbomb that we all have been awaiting. Easily one of the best, if not the best book that Marvel NOW! has to offer and Jason Aaron is the genius behind that. Not focusing on what made Thor a hero, or a superhero, but what made him a god. Giving meaning to what it means to be a god in the Marvel Universe.

This story took advantage of what made Thor who he is and played on his strengths. Whether we understood what Thor was capable of beforehand, Jason Aaron made sure that was something we remembered as he, his past, and future self pushed themselves to the very limit to stop something that spit in the face of who they are as gods. The God of Thunder, one full of so much pride and honor, is what you saw at the very end of this tale. One who stands so firmly in his beliefs as a god that the many across space and time prayed to him for their lives, his own father included who abandoned him. This was the most powerful tale you could ask of Thor and Jason Aaron made you feel the emotional impact of it all.

Gorr was the perfect villain. As the saying goes, you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. That is what happened to Gorr and while his intentions seemed pure, his approach was what undermined his cause. It is what ultimately lost him the fight and Jason made certain that this was emphasized.

The narration throughout this entire arc has been nothing but breathtaking. Some might say it was not necessary or it took away from the story, but it never really did. It gave every moment importance, as if  . The layout and the art was just spectacular. Esad Ribic was meant to be the artist for this book because I felt as if I was actually reading a Norse tale.
