Valve has taken a page from Microsoft’s old book and announced a family sharing service for Steam.
“Our customers have expressed a desire to share their digital games among friends and family members, just as current retail games, books, DVDs, and other physical media can be shared,” explained Anna Sweet of Valve. “Family Sharing was created in direct response to these user requests.”
Steam Family Sharing will use the Steam cloud to enable people to lend their game libraries to friends or family. The service basically works like lending games to your friends. You both can’t be playing the game at the same time, but your friend will be able to play your games, and vice versa, if you let them.
