Injustice Gods Among Us #36

This has been Year One for Injustice Gods Among Us, and what a year it has been. Big things come in small packages, that much can be said when you get through this issue. Such an iconic moment from Batman’s past which he suffered again in this issue and Tom found a way to turn it into something just as memorable for this world.

Any person could have picked up this issue right here and automatically assumed that Batman was out for the count, that much is certain for any person who goes against Superman, let alone having your vertebrae cracked. Here Tom has shown us what lengths each will go to get what they want, to sacrifice everything for what they believe to be justice. Batman surely did and showed nothing but the extent of his tactic ability. To take a hit and deliver one through the one person who would not stand for what Superman has done to him. This conflict brings out the best and the worst in all of these characters. Alfred shockingly had shown what anger it could bring out in him to do what he did to Superman. This is how you handle these characters when they are faced with such trials.

The one thing you appreciate is that nothing here is predictable. At any moment you can be taken by a decision that a character can make. Here it would be surprising if you were not entertained by the sight of an angered Alfred joining the fight. The execution of this moment was so grand that you realize just what is at stake for everyone involved. Family, friends, teammates, no one is safe and that adds to the urgency when they see each other as the villain.

This is one of the best issues among some others which were that well written. It’s hard to tell where the story goes from here, but one thing is for sure, and that’s the real fight has begun. Batman has a way to fight back and given his skills, they will be more than a match for whatever Superman can throw at him.
