Forever Evil – Rogues Rebellion #1 Review

Forever Evil – Rogues Rebellion #1

Written by:  Brian Buccellato
Art by: Patrick Zircher

This is the kind of story we should get coming out of Forever Evil. You can expect some villains to be greatful for the new world handed to them, and others to fear those who took out the strongest heroes on Earth. But, the Rogues aren’t the kind to bow down to a higher power, they call no man their boss. That doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be consequence for telling them no.

Here they find out that there really is no choice in the matter. It’s ether fall in line, or refuse and risk certain death. What Buccellato did here that you appreciate is taking advantage of the typical Rogue mentality, to be rebellious. Their perspective on this new world is something refreshing and they have their own priorities to handle while exploring this new landscape. They are different from others which makes his choice rather interesting, while other villains are out doing what they want, they don’t care to get their hands dirty. Just because you can do whatever you want doesn’t really mean you do it right? They’re not that kind of evil.

This is a great start to a story that has a lot of promise if executed correctly. Good casting choice, Really by the end of this first issue, you see that these aren’t the same villains that are usually getting beat around. They have a lot of potential, and when set free in this capacity, they can do so much more than you’d expect. It’s intense, yet with a bit of humor tossed in the mix. The gritty style is also a good match to the tone of this story, something you can take serious given the situation they find themselves in. This is recommended if you like villains, or just want something different.
