Three of Nintendo’s Biggest Holiday Titles Launching Friday

On Friday, Nov. 22, Nintendo will be releasing three of their biggest games of the holiday season.

The first of these is Wii U title Super Mario 3D World, the first 3D Mario title to feature both four-player co-op and HD visuals. Four people can play together as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach or Toad. The first player uses the GamePad while the other three can use a Wii Remote or Wii U Pro Controller. Each character also has their own abilities. Luigi, for example, can jump higher in the air while Peach can float in the for a short duration. For more info on Super Mario 3D World, check out the game’s website here. Be sure to look out for our review of the game as well.

The next title is The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (ALBW) for the 3DS. As the successor to the 1992 Super Nintendo game The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, ALBW takes place in the same world, but with a new story and dungeons. This time around, Link must venture back and forth between, well, the two worlds Hyrule and Lorule using a power allowing him to become a drawing on walls. With this ability and being able to purchase and rent items throughout the game, players can approach dungeons in any order they want to. The gameplay in general reflects the top-down view of A Link to the Past as well. For more info on ALBW, check out the game’s website here.

In addition to the ALBW’s release, Nintendo is also launching the ALBW Nintendo 3DS XL bundle for $219.99. The bundle comes packed in a gold and black color Zelda designed 3DS XL and a download code for ABLW. Check out the bundle here.

Lastly but not least is 3DS title Mario Party: Island Tour. As the third portable Mario Party game and first for the 3DS, Island Tour utilizes the system’s features. Some mini-games have players using the 3DS mic to imitate Nintendo characters, AR cards and the gyroscope. Island Tour also features download play with three other players in the same room. Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales & marketing, said “Nintendo is making holiday shopping easy for everyone with the release of three major games on one day. There is something for everyone in this lineup. Super Mario 3D World is perfect for families, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a must-have for gamers and Mario Party: Island Tour is great for kids of all ages.”
