EA Predicts New Xbox/PlayStation Consoles To Arrive Near End of Decade

Despite the next-gen consoles here for some of us with still a wait for others to go, EA is now keeping one eye on the future of console gaming with the prediction that we’ll see new consoles from Sony and Microsoft by the end of the decade.

“This console cycle may have gone on a little bit longer than I would have wanted,” EA’s Patrick Soderlund explained to MCV whilst referring to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3′s unusually long life cycles.

“A five, six year gap is what I expect going forward,” continued Soderlund. Console life cycles rarely last almost eight years like the 360 and PS3 have so perhaps the notion of this consoles being around for a shorter amount of time in comparison isn’t actually that far fetched. The life cycles of the original Xbox and PlayStation 2 were quite a bit shorter than the one we just passed.
