2013’s Awards – Best PS4 & Xbox One Game

As all good things must come to an end, so does 2013. Nevertheless, this past year will sure go down as one of the more impressive ones in our industry. Not only did the 8th generation of gaming begin, but 2013 also saw the release of yet another batch of overly impressive titles, which are sure to amaze pretty much everyone.

As mentioned above, the 8th generation of gaming has finally arrived, bringing with it the long-awaited PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The systems don’t currently “swim” in a “pool of titles,” but there are enough games worth creating a list for… and a winner, obviously. First, let’s take a look at Sony’s PS4:

  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Battlefield 4
  • Need for Speed: Rivals
  • Resogun
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall

And the winner is…

Resogun

“I was constantly impressed at how long I would spend playing, as the hours would pass so quickly. Resogun is definitely frustrating, but frustrating in all the right ways. It punishes you for mistakes, it pushes you to be better, and the reward is ever-satisfying. After over 15 hours behind the wheel of my Nemesis ship (and even as I write this review) I want to dive right back in, and continue my hunt for earning the #1 spot amongst my friends. Resogun brings fresh life to the old school hunt for high scores, and it does so with pure class.” You can check out the rest of the review, here.

Now, it’s time for Microsoft’s Xbox One to come into the light. Our top Xbox One games of this year – or this fall, to be more precise – are:

  • Battlefield 4
  • Deadrising 3
  • Forza Motorsport 5

And the winner is…

Dead Rising 3

I was not expecting to have as much fun as I did with Dead Rising 3. All of the small changes they have made, combined with the technology of next-generation consoles easily makes this the best Dead Rising in the series. Finding a blueprint to create a new combo weapon, or turning to the next corner only to find hundreds of zombies in your face is exalting. Los Perdidos is loads of fun to explore. If you had to narrow your choice down to a single Xbox One launch game, Dead Rising 3 would be a great choice. It’s just good ole dumb zombie-killing fun.” You can check out the rest of our review, here.
