Denmark developer IO Interactive has revealed the first details on its next generation Hitman sequel, via an open letter, specifically addressed to the fans of the franchise.
First of all, the upcoming Hitman will grace the “next-gen consoles” and PC. That said, we’re not sure if the Wii U is included there. Second of all, in contrast with Absolution, Agent 47 will be a “globetrotting” hitman, working once again for the ICA, alongside his trusted handler - Diana Burnwood.
This entry will take the best parts of Absolution (like its Glacier 2 engine), but it’ll draw inspiration more from Blood Money and Contracts, meaning that it’ll feature “the largest levels [they] have ever built,” containing “exotic locations,” and being “huge, [and] checkpoint-free.“
In addition to all that, the Contracts mode will also make a return. As in Absolution, you’ll be able to take the levels from the campaign, and set your own rules for creating wildly different scenarios.”Your rules, your Contracts.” Also, Agent 47’s “magical pockets” are gone. No more sniper rifles without briefcases, then.
IO will reveal more, as we get further into 2014. You can find our Absolution review, here. We pretty much loved it.
In addition to being a PC editor, Vlad Pintea is also a chief of news and reviews here at Analog Addiction, and sometimes he even speaks his own mind. You can contact him via e-mail at email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org, on Skype (vlad94pintea), Steam, Facebook, and Twitter. Have a good day, and remember: stay calm, and keep on gaming!
