Little Mac Punches Into ‘Smash Bros’ Wii U & 3DS Roster

Today’s Nintendo Direct started off with a bang- or rather, a punch- as they announced Little Mac as a new playable character that will be joining the likes of Mario, Pikachu, and Link in in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games for Wii U and 3DS. You may remember Mac from his retro days in the Punch-Out!! game for NES. More recently, he’s been seen in a sequel with the same name on the Wii home console, and served as an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Don’t let Little Mac’s name or size fool you. As you can see in the trailer above, Mac is ruthless in his onslaught, punching away at anything that moves. Mac also seems to have a parry move, similar to that of Marth or Ike from the previous versions of the game. You’ll also notice what we believe to be the final smash attack, where Little Mac- well, let’s just say he’s not so little when he grabs the smash ball!

Little Mac is the 23rd confirmed character on the Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS roster. The game is set to release in 2014.
