Today Larry Hryb announced via his website that the Xbox One will be receiving a media remote early next month. There was no concrete date given, just the information that it will be released across Xbox One markets worldwide. Curious to see what the remote looks like? We can certainly oblige with that as well.
As far as functionality is concerned, the remote will primarily be used to control playback of video being streamed on the console as well as any Blu-rays you may be watching through the system, however it can also control your television and receiver via Kinect’s infrared signals. In addition to this, the remote’s keys are backlit once you pick it up, allowing you to see which buttons your fingers are hovering over or pressing if you happen to be enjoying entertainment in the dark. Fortunately, when the remote is laying prone on a table, couch, etc, the buttons will not be lit up, allowing you to enjoy your video without a small glow emanating from the remote. The estimated retail price of this remote is $24.99 USD which will hopefully remain fairly consistent across the world.
