E3 2014 – ‘Destiny’ Trailer and Beta Date Announced, First Coming to PS4

Instead of opening with their usual montage, Sony opened their E3 2014 press conference with Destiny, the upcoming game that’s being developed by Bungie and published by Activision was shown for the PlayStation 4.

The Destiny trailer beings with present-day astronauts landing on Mars, who then find The Traveller, which seems to the central plot point of the game. After giving us a brief history leading up to the game’s point in the story, the focus then shifted to the Guardian, the last known hope against The Darkness, who’s plotting to destroy The Traveller. From there, the trailer showed further cinematics, which included vehicles.

Afterward, Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, made the first appearance on the stage and announced the Destiny beta is launching on July 17 on the PlayStation 4. However, for those who can wait, Bungie is offering a first-look alpha demo, which you may cross your fingers to get at http://www.greatnessawaits.com/destiny.

Destiny is slated to release on Sept. 9, 2014 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
