Sony showcased a gameplay trailer for Far Cry 4 at their conference. The trailer begins with the player climbing a mountain, followed by approaching an enemy encampment. After taking out a few of the enemies, the player hops into a jeep and a weaponized, high speed pursuit ensues. When the chase goes sideways, a harrowing body gliding suit sequence begins, which leads to a sudden co-op segment. In what feels like a seamless transition, the game goes from a single player adventure to having a second player fly around some sort of helicopter contraption aiding the first player in liberating a small village.
It was then announced that only on the PS4 will players be able to invite friends who don’t own Far Cry 4 to join them in co-op play. Needless to say, this is huge news for PS4 owners as it allows them to play a game they do not necessarily own. Far Cry 4 is set to release on November 18, 2014 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
