‘Firewatch’ Might Be One of the Best Indie Games of 2015

First of all, meet Campo Santo – “a small but scrappy” independent developer based in San Francisco, California. This ten-man studio has recently set out to create video games about “interesting people in fascinating places,” and its first project is called Firewatch.

Firewatch is a first-person adventure game set in the Wyoming wilderness. Its star? A man named Henry who has retreated from his “messy life” to work as a fire lookout. That said, being all by yourself in the middle of Wyoming’s woods would get quite lonely, right? Well, to alleviate this, Henry is in permanent contact with his supervisor – Delilah – who also acts as his only connection to the “outside” world.

Okay, now check out the screenshots below; they’re in-game, and they’re absolutely stunning!

Firewatch is a mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness, where your only emotional lifeline is the person on the other end of a handheld radio,” reads the game’s official description.

When Henry’s attention gets drawn by something far away from his comfortable lookout tower, “you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making interpersonal choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.”

Firewatch launches sometime in 2015, on the PC, Mac, and Linux.
