CES: Nvidia’s ‘Project Shield’ Handheld Revealed
CES has never been known as a gaming event, every year a few announcements involving the technical side of the industry are shown, maybe new controllers, new engines etc. But this year Nvidia (Known for producing computer graphics cards) has surprised everyone unveiling Project Shield, it is an Android-based gaming handheld.
The handheld will include the new Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, it also houses a HDMI port allowing easy video output, micro-USB connection for various accessories and a microSD port to allow cheap expandable storage space . The console itself is built within a console controller with a flip-up screen, its own integrated sound system and all the similar buttons you would expect to see on your home console controller.
Exact specs and pricing of the device have yet to be revealed, but we do know Project Shield will contain a 5-inch 720p HD display. Nvidia have also stated that the device is “Pure Android,” allowing it to contain the standard Android interface, not only that but it will be able to access apps and games from the Google Play store.
With the in-built Tegra 4 processor the device is able to remotely access your PC, meaning you will be able to play any PC games on your Shield device within the same local Wi-Fi network. Got a massive Steam library? Well those games will also be playable via Shield.
At the event Nvidia showcased the device producing HD video from the handheld screen, on a 4K TV without any lag or framerate issues. Producing the same quality experience without any drawbacks, offers gamers an easy-access method to their PC games in their own hands.
Nvidia have said Project Shield will ship in Q2 this year and Analog Addiction will keep you updated with anymore details as they are released.

Alan Wake Developer Teasing 2013
You remember that crazy writer named Alan Wake, right? That guy who would write about all these crazy horror stories and then one day they started coming to life from his own pages, well he might be making a new appearance very soon.
Remedy, the creator of the Alan Wake series is teasing some new announcements for 2013. How are they doing this? Through the Official Alan Wake Facebook page, “Even greater Remedy news to come in 2013…” If that doesn’t scream (Pun intended) Alan Wake, Remedy stated back in March 2012 that they were hiring for next generation development and later that a new game in the series may be in development before E3 2012.
Alan Wake first hit in May 2010, releasing exclusively on Xbox 360 and then releasing on PC February last year. There was also a spinoff title called Alan Wake: American Nightmare, which was also released February last year on Xbox 360 and PC in May.
Since Alan Wake is Remedy’s biggest IP and all the hints seems to be pointing to Alan Wake, could we finally receive a fully fledged sequel? Keep it tuned to Analog Addiction for more and also check out our PC review of the original game while we wait for more exciting news.
