During last week’s EA’s summer showcase it was officially announced that Mass Effect 3 was getting the Leviathan DLC. EA also reported that this new adventure will allow the player to “discover more about the origins of the Reapers as they race across the galaxy to unravel the mystery that surrounds the fabled Leviathan.” The content will add new planets to visit, as well as new characters to interact with, but you will still play as Commander Shepard.
Rumours of this DLC’s existence have been lurking ever since files leaked from the Extended Cut endings containing voice lines from ‘Leviathan’ and then Anthony Skordi confirmed he was playing the voice of the reaper itself. BioWare also hinted during their Comic-Con event, showing a small piece of footage containing a red Atlas Mech underwater.
We do not know a lot of details regarding the DLC at this moment, but we do know it follows Shepard hunting down a rogue reaper who has indoctrinated a mining colony and does involve some sort of underwater exploration. Keep an eye out for it in the coming months on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
EA also informed us that Mass Effect 3 will be a launch title for Wii U’s console launch later this year. It will also pack a digital comic; similar to the one Mass Effect 2 for PlayStation 3 included allowing players to alter the previous history of their character.
