Atlus announced today via Twitter that Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan will be coming to North America early next year on the Nintendo 3DS. If you’re not sure what Etrian Odyssey is, it’s an RPG series that debuted on the Nintendo DS in 2007 or 2008 depending on which part of the world you inhabit. It is viewed as a more hardcore RPG and the series has gathered a strong following from gamers who want something other than a Pokemon game to play on the go to feed their RPG hunger. This news should also please 3DS owners as they’ve had to sit back and watch as some major titles get released on the older DS handheld but fail to get a 3DS launch. This will also mark the first time the Etrian Odyssey series had made it’s way over to North America.
While no firm release date has been set for North American 3DS owners to get their hands on this hotly anticipated sequel, it would not be surprising to hear one in the coming weeks. Until then, 3DS owners will have to sit and wait, hoping for “early 2013” to mean January rather than April.
