Nintendo has announced two new Pokemon games headed to the 3DS, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y via the Nintendo Direct Broadcast this morning.
Pokemon X and Y will be the first Pokemon games on the 3DS to take complete advantage of the features used in the best selling Nintendo handheld. The games will feature some fully rendered 3D worlds along with three new starter Pokemon and some older Pokemon such as Pikachu and Psyduck for those of us feeling nostalgic. Below is the trailer revealed for the games.
The Pokemon games have never had a fully 3D environment so if you haven’t played a Pokemon game in a few years like one certain editor (cough, cough) and you’re playing catch up, Pokemon X and Y might be for you. The three new starter Pokemon are Chespin, a grass-type, Fennekin, a fire-type and Froakie, a water-type Pokemon.
Satoru Iwata, whilst speaking via the ND Broadcast noted how the releases for Pokemon games outside of Japan have always been delayed for localisation. Iwata then announced that Pokemon X and Y will be seeing a worldwide release window for October 2013.
