Nintendo Direct had made another announcement today at 6am EST, but this time it involving their successful handheld, the 3DS. Today, games such as Donkey Kong Returns, a new Mario & Luigi game, Mario Golf, and a release date for Animal Crossing were all announced. If that wasn’t enough for you, the Wii U had a few news clips of their own, in addition to a new Pokemon for Pokemon X and Y and a special bundle for Europe Nintendo lovers!
Starting with the 3DS, Donkey Kong Returns 3D is not, again NOT, a new game. It is in fact a port from the Wii version with Nintendo stating that the game is being remade with full 3D. A Summer 2013 is the predicted launching for this game.
Following Donkey Kong Returns we have a new Mario & Luigi game (think Superstar Saga series) called Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Apparently, the game is going to be taking all in Luigi’s dream; but little else is known other than that players will have to interact with a sleeping Luigi to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Of course Mario will be there, but nothing else is really known besides another Summer 2013 launch.
Fans of Mario spinoffs, golf, or both Mario and golf will be happy to know that a new Mario Golf game was announced for the 3DS called, Mario Golf: World Tour. Camelot will once again be developing the game and confirmed characters, so far, are Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, and Donkey Kong.
Next on our list is the release date for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which will be on June 9th in North America and June 14th in the EU. Don’t feel sorry people in the EU because March 22nd, Nintendo will release a Wii U Limited Edition Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Premium Pack, which contains the black premium Wii U (32GB of storage), a black Wii U Pro Controller, and a copy of the game. On the 3DS side (well XL), the Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Limited Edition Pack includes a new entirely black 3DS XL with a copy of the game pre-installed. The 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro will also be launching in Europe on March 22nd, for players who wish to experience the game with two analogue sliders.
Just to boot on April 13th, the EU will also be receiving a 3DS XL bundle for Fire Emblem, which is similar to the Cobalt Blue Fire Emblem 3DS that came out, except the 3DS is the regular blue with a special Fire Emblem design, and of course is an XL.
Smaller announcements for the Wii U this time include Google Maps making their way onto the Wii U. And fans of the New Super Mario Bros U will be happy to know DLC will be available for the game in the form of New Super Luigi U. No announcement yet on a release date, just know because it is the “Year of Luigi” this will be a very big DLC.
