Irrational Games gave us another new trailer for Bioshock Infinite today, this time focusing heavily on Elizabeth’s powers and Booker’s interaction with her. Add some dramatic music, action shots, choice pieces of dialogue, and you’ve got yourself an incredibly powerful 2 minute trailer. Don’t believe me?
Right from the start of the trailer we see an emphasis on Columbia, or at the very least the people holding her captive, labeling Elizabeth as a “specimen.” If you weren’t already supporting the protagonist’s endeavour to rescue her in order to eliminate his debt, you should be now. Shortly after this, around the 30 second mark, you see a brief glimpse of someone we can assume is Booker rowing a small boat with someone else (presumably Elizabeth) towards a lighthouse and looking in a briefcase at a few items. All I could think of while watching that is the similarities between that brief scene and the opening of the original Bioshock. Is this intentional? You’d likely be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t believe so.
Throughout the rest of the trailer we see more cinematic action, Booker beating down some enemies, explosions, gunfire, the Songbird, and a whole lot of dialogue between the two protagonists. It’s been made clear from the very start that the relationship between Booker and Elizabeth is a very crucial aspect of this game, and this trailer only serves to emphasize that even more.
Bioshock Infinite is set to release on March 26th, 2013 for PC, Xbox 360, and the PS3. Keep checking back for the latest news on this title as we get closer to the release date.
