Warner Bros. has officially revealed Batman Arkham Origins as the official sequel to 2011’s Batman Arkham City due to release later this year.
Arkham Origins, featured as Game Informer magazine’s May cover, gives the development to Warner Bros. Montreal instead of series creator Rocksteady. As a result, WB Montreal will be using Rocksteady’s version of the Unreal engine to create the authentic Arkham experience.
Batman Arkham Origins will be taking place before Batman Arkham Asylum and City to a time when Batman was younger and didn’t have the deadly adversaries that he does now. In Arkham Origins, Batman will meet nine of his future deadliest villains on Christmas Eve in Gotham City who has banded together in an effort to kill the Bat. The game will be the first Batman Arkham game to allow players to full experience Gotham City and according to developer will be a living breathing city despite the game being set on Christmas Eve.
Arkham Origin’s creative director will be none other than Eric Holmes who players may recognise as lead designer for The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype. Holmes also wrote the IDW Transformers comic, Megatron Origin.
The game itself will release on October 25th 2013 on PS3, 360, PC and Wii U.
