JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #19 is the start of a new story arc as Lemire and Fawkes explore the importance of the House of Mystery to Constantine. Being made out of ancient and magical wood, the only person that Constantine could to turn to for help is Swamp Thing since he is the avatar of the Green. Though even so, Swamp Thing doesn’t quite like Constantine or trust him. It’s a fun situation when it comes to Constantine because he has the worst reputation as someone who does good things. It’s a great set up because not only does he not have a reason to trust Constantine knowing he was set up, but you have the appearance of the Flash and the true enemy who is  revealed at the very end to be Doctor Destiny.

The House of Mystery has always been the one constant in this series that was unknown, but now we see what really lies within as the nightmares infect the whole city. Lemire and Fawkes did a great job making you feel that sense of urgency and that they really had something to lose by failing to take back the house. What we expect from this series is a book full of mysteries and that is what we got here as they faced their own fears which in turn helped us dive into what makes some of them tick.

It was interesting to see how Colonel Trevor tried to get Deadman to spy on the JLA Dark for him, and even telling Deadman that he could give him something he desires, he is still hesitant knowing what Constantine is capable of.
