The Spider #12
The conclusion between The Spider and the alliance between the Fly and the Lawgiver. Wentworth’s back is against the wall, and Liss captured every moment as everything is on the line. Like most pulp heroes out there, The Spider is one who takes matters into his own hands, acts outside the law, and believes only in justice. Liss put him in such a situation in which he had to stay a step ahead, even when he didn’t know ahead of what.
It’s a very different situation than most like The Spider find themselves in. This story arc has been unique in the sense that the cops are in danger when normally you expect them to be corrupt. If anything Liss has shown the importance of the man behind the mask. Just for the sheer fact that while I say “The Spider”, Wentworth never put on the costume or needed it to foil Fly and Lawgiver’s plans. It shows a resourcefulness that you expect from someone with no powers. I will say that what I expected was to feel some sense of urgency, there was a lack of this because even though you knew the villains plot, you didn’t really feel as though anyone was in real danger. The one shocking moment was at the very end when he took care of the Lawgiver for good.
The artwork by Roriguez is both solid and smooth. A combination between the smooth outlines and the very solid use of colors which even though took away the feeling of the tone portrayed, made every scene appealing.
