Dubbed as the “ultimate gaming experience” console, Microsoft has announced the Xbox One Elite Bundle.
This Xbox One’s most noteworthy feature is a 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive. For those who don’t know, unlike a regular hard drive, a solid state drive doesn’t use moving parts, meaning software can load faster.
This hybrid drive “stores frequently-accessed files on a solid state partition and optimizes system performance so you can get to the action up to 20 percent faster from energy-saving mode,” Xbox Wire said. It seems the system will boot faster and reduce load times on frequently-played games and apps.
Additionally, the Elite Bundle contains an Elite Wireless Controller. Originally announced during E3 2015, the Elite controller has “fully customizable features, interchangeable paddles, further customization with the Xbox Accessories app, Hair Trigger Locks and high-performance” and is compatible with Windows 10. By itself, the controller is $149.99.
The Elite Bundle will launch Nov. 3, 2015, for $499. Xbox Wire said this console will launch exclusively at GameStop and Microsoft Stores during the month of November, which means it is presumably coming to other retailers at a later time.
Microsoft also announced a new Lunar White controller releasing in late September exclusively at GameStop for $64.99. Aside from the controller’s usual features, the thumbsticks have “improved grip texture,” Xbox Wire said.
